Real facts about how we met, how we build, and why we are solving this problem
We met through Y Combinator's co-founder matching platform and have known each other for about 4 months. Jiya had already compiled a database of 5,000+ vendors prior to matching. Since then, we have worked together to build the product prototype, verify that data on-site, and commit to partner as co-founders.
Swayamprabha Narayanan (CTO) writes all code and designs the entire technical product architecture on Scoutify. No third parties or non-founders have contributed to any part of our codebase or technical prototype.
Jiya comes from a real estate background and noticed designers wasting up to 40% of their timelines hunting for local contractors in chaotic, unvetted WhatsApp groups. Since the underlying trade referral data does not exist online, search engines cannot index it. We decided to build that verified database layer from scratch.
We have manually compiled and physically or digitally verified 5,284 vendor leads across 30+ service categories and 20+ states in India. These leads were extracted from inside 13 private industry WhatsApp recommendation groups and verified directly with vendors and referencing architects.
Jiya lives in New Delhi and Swayamprabha lives in Chennai. After Y Combinator, the company will be based in Bangalore. Bangalore is India's tech hub, giving us access to investors and developers while placing us midpoint between Chennai and New Delhi to coordinate operations.
